Journal

Tonight I am sitting in the candle light, wondering what I should talk about. Well I was at work today, where we have an organics, recycle and garbafe bin… yet when I put my organics into the coreect bin, I noticed it was empty and the garbage can was full of things that could have been properly sorted… Interesting. This was in the staff room.

Our work made compost and recycling easy and even have the cans beside each other, but people still do not sort. I am not sure how to respond to that. It is laziness. Pure laziness.

Which makes me wonder, is un-sustainability a product of our lazy life styles? Think about it. We don’t want to cook dinner, we get take out in styrofoam containers. Too lazy to bring a coffee from home or water bottle, so we buy them in the store and toss. Can’t walk so we oil it. Can’t get to the gym so we pop some pills. Won’t take the time to sew so we buy clothes with our favorite brands even though it was probably made in Bangladesh or China.

I could be wrong, I am just thinking. I would like to hear your opinion so please post your comments.

Well tomorrow I am going to throw my new candle holders on the pottery wheel. My mom thinks I should get a solar LED ¬†light so I don’t burn down their house. She is probably right.

Also I am going to make my own shampoo and cleaning solutions tomorrow. Wish me luck. If you have recipes, please post them! Sharing is caring and growing together!

I would also like to begin a blogroll of awesome green or sustainable living blogs. If you know of one, leave a comment.

Alright, night night. Gotta work on my sustainable energy page and rest so I can inspire a future generation tomorrow.

    I could name a few…

And in response to your other question (“is un-sustainability a product of our lazy life styles?”), I would say it is a combination of laziness, ignorance and how easily accessible resources are. Because we do not see what goes into making the products and packages that we buy, we do not realize how important they are. Because we do not see where our trash goes, we do not worry about what happens to it. We have been (purposefully?) isolated from the life cycle of the products in our lives.
Ignorance is bliss… and allows more consumption.

My friend and lovely, leave a reply!
